Of Earth, Stone and Bronze
DNArte - The Art of the Giants is a project of cultural dissemination and artistic research that enhances the heritage of Sardinia through a contemporary and universal language. It is a tribute to the extraordinary continuity of its civilization, capable of transforming its roots into living art.
Gavino Murgia's original music, with its balance between jazz, ancestral vocals, launeddas and the most refined suggestions of world music, represents the very soul of this journey: a bridge between past and future, between local identity and international scope, in which Sardinia recites itself through the timeless language of music.
To give life to this extraordinary soundscape, Gavino Murgia, on saxophones, flutes and voice, is supported by an ensemble of musicians of the highest level, each bearer of its own artistic sensitivity and a different cultural universe.
The deep sounds of the oud, the expressive richness of the guitars, the poetic breath of the bandoneon and the timbral variety of the percussion intertwine with Murgia's voice and instruments, giving rise to a musical dialogue of great intensity.
The result is a refined and borderless sound palette, in which the Mediterranean meets jazz, the archaic tradition of Sardinia opens up to world music and improvisation becomes the language through which past and present merge into a single, engaging narrative.
DNArte is not just a show, but a cultural and sensorial experience in which the history of Sardinia is heard before being told.
The Art of the Giants
DNArte – Di Terra, di Pietra e Bronzo is an artistic and multimedia project created by Gavino Murgia, in which music, archaeology, visual arts and narration converge into a single, immersive experience. It is an journey through emotions along the memory of an ancient land, where the language of sounds becomes a tool for exploring knowledge and identity.
The title recalls the elements that shaped the long lasting history of Sardinia: the Land, guardian of its origins and its traditions; the Stone, symbol of the Nuragic civilization and its thousand-year-old monuments; Bronze, a material through which ancient craftsmen have handed down images of a society thriving in spirituality, strength and beauty.
In this synthesis of experiences and languages, music surpasses any genre classification: it is memory and innovation, ritual and improvisation, cultured research and popular expression. The melodies seem to arise from the stone of the nuraghi, from the wind that crosses the highlands, from the sea that for millennia has connected Sardinia to the great civilizations of the Mediterranean, turning itself into a soundtrack of memory.
The narrative path develops as an ideal journey that starts from the ancient Mother Goddesses of the Neolithic, crosses the universe of the Nuragic civilization with its sacred wells, votive bronzes and the monumental Giants of Mont'e Prama, to eventually reach the expressions of contemporary art, from Maria Lai to Pinuccio Sciola. The past is not perceived as an unmovable artifact, but as a living presence that keeps interacting with the present time and generating new forms of creativity.
The images, video projections and narration amplify the emotional experience, turning the concert into an immersive space in which the audience is called to live an authentic sensorial experience. Every sound becomes a trace of memory, every image a testimony, every silence a space for contemplation and reflection.
